As any good parent will tell you, when a camera comes out, kids lose their minds. This is usually the reason people book my Lifestyle sessions; it’s like a free pass when a toddler escapes the unconstitutional restraint of a diaper or if the baby just ate dirt (excellent minerals).
Seriously though. It happens every time. And I freaking love it.
The moments that everyone secretly loves are the ones that are emotional. Not the poses, the fake smiles, the clean outfits that are rarely ever worn because they’re uncomfortable. There are times and places for those kinds of portraits. However when we all settle down on the couch to look through prints 20 years from now, we will reach for the images that are made up of emotion and authenticity. The pictures that tell stories, not details.
These images and this family in particular prove just how beautiful this fact is, and how deeply we should treasure the real moments that tell our story.
